A Clinical study of acute climacteric symptoms measured by Kupperman’s index

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose :The climacteric disturbance has biological, social and psychologycal character. It’s very difficult that treatment’s effect of climacteric symptoms by Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) is appeared objectively. We want to propose that the climacteric symptom be measured objectively and diagnosed definitely by climacteric index. Treatment by TKM of the climacteric symptom can be valued by climacteric index.
Methods :We measured each climacteric symptom by Kupperman’s index and summed up each climacteric index. Then, We compared climacteric disturbance before treatment with one after treatment by Kupperman’s index.
Results :We treated her who had haven acute climacteric symptoms with herb medication, accupucture, and moxibustion during short term admission. During the admission, her climateric symtoms were improved. The sum of patient’s climacteric index was rapidly decreased(from 48 to 20).
Conclusion :The treatment by TKM which improves climacteric symptoms is very effective. It would be valid to measure by Kupperman’s index for treatment’s effect of climacteric symptoms.
